Job Description

Adams & Martin Group is working with a nationally recognized litigation firm to identify a Litigation Paralegal to support its San Francisco office. This temp-to-hire opportunity is ideal for a litigation professional who enjoys a hands-on role, is comfortable handling both paralegal and legal secretarial responsibilities, and brings a positive, team-oriented attitude to the workplace.

Responsibilities

Paralegal Duties (80%)

* Draft and prepare legal documents, including pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, subpoenas, and correspondence
* Conduct legal research using LexisNexis and other research platforms; compile and summarize findings for attorney review
* Manage discovery processes, including document review, production, e-discovery coordination, and privilege logs
* Prepare case files, exhibits, and trial binders for depositions, mediations, hearings, and trial proceedings
* Review, organize, and summarize medical records, billing records, and other case-related documentation
* Maintain and organize case files in Clio, ensuring accurate matter records, deadlines, and documentation
* Assist with case management tasks, including calendaring deadlines, coordinating with courts, and tracking case progress
* Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, courts, and outside vendors
* Support attorneys with billing-related tasks, including reviewing time and expense entries

Legal Secretarial Duties (20%)

* Format, proofread, and finalize legal documents, correspondence, and filings for accuracy and compliance with court rules
* Coordinate and schedule depositions, meetings, mediations, and court appearances
* E-file documents in California state and federal courts and coordinate service of process
* Maintain attorney calendars and manage filing deadlines and scheduling logistics
* Handle incoming and outgoing communications, including mail, email, and phone inquiries as needed

Qualifications

* Minimum of 3 years of litigation paralegal experience preferred
* Experience performing both paralegal and legal secretary functions required
* Strong litigation background, preferably in defense litigation environments
* Experience with discovery, case preparation, medical record review, and exhibit preparation required
* Proficiency with Clio practice management software required
* Proficiency with LexisNexis legal research platforms required
* Strong, polished writing skills with the ability to draft professional correspondence and legal documents with minimal supervision
* Professional demeanor with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint
* Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
* Paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
* Experience with California state and federal court e-filing preferred
* Familiarity with e-discovery platforms and document review tools is a plus
* Knowledge of California Rules of Court and local court rules preferred
* Experience with legal billing and timekeeping systems is a plus
